‘Loving Kai’ book release celebrates World Oceans Day
In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8, To Live For LLC is publishing “Loving Kai,” a book co-created by 59 writers and artists, many of whom reside in Hawaii. Proceeds support World Oceans Day and their global effort to protect our oceans.
To Live For LLC, a husband and wife team currently living in Captain Cook, is on a mission of inspiring love, joy and positive vibes through volunteerism, writing, and live stage shows called “Inspired!” The concept for “Loving Kai” came about after witnessing the trash that has accumulated on international beaches.
Artists and writers from across the globe have contributed stories, poems, photography, paintings and other art to co-create “Loving Kai.” The book will be available for purchase starting June 8.

Big Island author, songwriter releases music videos
Bestselling author and songwriter Dennis Lee Foster has released a free music video of his poem and song “In a Room Where Widows Weep,” a poignant tribute to love and loss in the time of COVID-19.
The soundtrack is passionately recited by voice artist Robyn Selman against a moving performance by Foster’s platinum musical group Kellian and Company. The music video can be streamed for free from the group’s website.
Selman is a former BBC narrator and lead singer of the British experimental group Autorotation. Kellian and Company’s breakthrough hit “Do You Know What It’s Like To Be Lonely” attracted 1.3 million listeners on Soundcloud, making it the most streamed song on the Pop chart and No. 13 overall.
In addition, the musical artists have made other performances available for streaming, including the stay-at-home anthem “Give Me Comfort,” the comical parody of love and dating “Just Don’t,” and the iconic punk rock saga “Angel From the Underground.”
Foster, a Kailua-Kona resident, has written 65 published books including two bestsellers and seven book club selections. Seventeen of his books have been translated into foreign languages. He has served stints as a lead guitarist and radio DJ, and has produced numerous commercials, corporate films, and educational films. He is also an acclaimed computer scientist regarded as an authority on Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to their platinum hit, Kellian and Company performed with Micky Dolenz (The Monkeys) and ___ (“Orange is the New Black”).

Live stream performance benefits The Food Basket
Ohrlando’s Chamber Ensemble will livestream its next performance on Sunday.
The performance will start at 5 p.m. via the ensemble’s YouTube channel “Ohrlando Live From Home.” Streams of previous performances are available there, as well.
The ensemble is asking those who view the performance featuring music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to donate to The Food Basket online at www.hawaiifoodbasket.org.
Food contributions can also be dropped off at several locations for residents at Hualalai Elderly in Kailua-Kona. Auntie Jan and her crew there will make a bag for all 96 doors (140 residents) every Friday. The most sought items are grocery store gift cards, rice, canned and dry soups, canned meat, and paper bags.
Items can be dropped off at Nancy Albright’s front porch at 76-6336 Kupuna St.; Kona Rebuilders at 74-5555 Kaiwi St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; or at Ursula Hess &Orlandos’ Palisades area front porch at 73-4865 Manu Mele St. in Kailua-Kona.
